Material Application
Since the concept of this material is born to give value to
a raw material, that is considered to be poor, but hides
some unespected aesthetical properties, I think this material
should be used to embellish and decorate. On the
other hand the jelly is not a durable material, but it is possible
to take advantage of it’s perishability or substitute it
with a more durable, transparent, natural resin.
In this way the material could be used to create
- food packagings
- In my mind I find the patterns suitable for bathroom complements like tiles or soap caddy
- led lamps (the pattern can create nice light effects)
- kitchen complements like trivets

Material Narrative
I chose to work with vegetable peels because we all know that is one of the most interesting waste to recycle.
In particular, I decided to use onion peels because I noticed that the inner part of the peels reflects the light in an interesting way. So I wanted to try to use this aesthetical peculiarity to create a material that takes advantage of it. The final result is a playful patterned material, that is structured on different layers. It's possible to perceive the depth of the material thanks to the transparency of the jelly layers.
